In the year 2000, I made the bold decision to turn my passion for music into a profession. With my skills in music production and sound design, I embarked on a new journey - creating samples and loops for a living.
I put my heart and soul into every sample and loop that I created. I made sure each sound was unique and original.
I still remember my first collaboration with a sample library like it was yesterday. It was with a UK-based website called 'Sound Effects Library' - one of the first online sample libraries to appear on the internet in the early days of the World Wide Web.
At the time, the internet was still in its infancy, and the idea of selling samples and loops online was a novel concept. But as a passionate music producer, I knew that this was the future of the industry.
It was exciting to be a part of this emerging industry, and to be one of the pioneers in the online sample library space. I felt like I was on the forefront of a new era in music production, and it was exhilarating.
After my successful collaboration with 'Sound Effects Library', I knew that I wanted to continue creating high-quality samples and loops for music producers around the world. That's when I got the opportunity to work with another UK-based sample label, Zero-G.
At the time, Zero-G was already a very popular and well-established company. They were manufacturing physical CDs and selling thousands of copies to producers all over the world. It was a huge honor to be working with such a prestigious and respected company in the industry.
Looking back on my collaboration with Zero-G, I am filled with gratitude and pride. It was an incredible opportunity to work with such a respected company in the industry, and it taught me the value of hard work, creativity, and collaboration in creating top-quality samples and loops.
After delving deep into the world of music production and creating a couple of sample CD's for the esteemed sample pack manufacturer Zero-G, I decided to take the leap and start my own sample label, this was in 2006. My love for music and appreciation for the great Jean Michel Jarre's iconic album "Equinoxe" inspired me to name my label Equinox Sounds.
With my own label, I knew I could create samples that truly represented my unique style and sound. No longer was I restricted by the guidelines of a manufacturer. Instead, I had the freedom to unleash my creativity and share my sonic vision with the world.
Marketing my sounds online on my own was no easy feat, but with a deep understanding of my target audience and the types of sounds they craved, I was able to successfully promote and sell my sample packs. As Equinox Sounds grew in popularity, I began to expand my offerings, even venturing into the world of VSTi presets and MIDI sample packs.
I also started to hire other producers to create sample packs for music genres that I was not familiar with. This allowed me to expand my sound library business and offer a wider range of sounds to my customers.
With Equinox Sounds, I have not only found a way to share my passion for music with the world, but also to build a successful and fulfilling career in music production. The journey has been challenging at times, but it has been worth every moment to see my samples inspire creativity in other producers and bring their musical visions to life.
Conclusion:
As a seasoned producer in the music production industry, I can tell you firsthand that creating sound libraries is not only a fulfilling creative pursuit, but it can also be an incredibly lucrative business.
The demand for high-quality samples and loops is constantly growing, as more and more music producers turn to digital production tools to create their music. In fact, the global market for music production software and equipment is projected to reach $14.6 billion by 2025, according to a report by MarketsandMarkets.
This means that there is a huge market for sound libraries, and producers who are able to create unique and valuable sounds can make a substantial income from selling their sample packs online.
But the benefits of creating sound libraries go beyond just financial gain. It's also a great way to establish yourself as a respected and influential figure in the music production community. By creating sounds that are used in productions all over the world, you are helping to shape the sound of modern music and inspire other producers to create their own unique sounds.
Of course, creating sound libraries requires hard work, dedication, and a lot of creativity. But if you're passionate about music production and willing to put in the effort, it can be an incredibly rewarding and profitable venture.
